The region of Tentudía is in the south of Extremadura, in Badajoz, composed of municipalities that are part of two natural areas of southern Extremadura, the mountains and the countryside, thereby originating inside marked differences between some localities and others.
The name of the mountain "" Tentudía "" revolves around a legend. According to this in this mountain, in the thirteenth century, a close battle between the knights of the Order of Santiago, with the Master Pelayo Perez Correa, and Muslims took place. Seeing lost the battle and to finish the day being, the Christian armies invoked the Virgin: "Holy Mary stop your day," the sun stood still on the horizon and the Christian armies won the battle.
In the name of Tentudía is synthesized what these people have in common: history, medieval presence of the Order of Santiago and the veneration of the Virgin of Tentudía, located above the mountain of the same name, with its 1104 meters, is the highest point Badajoz.
The situation of some municipalities and the beauty of its surroundings provide an added attraction for tourism.
